A School Born of a Promise
Established 2016 · Opposite CIT Kokrajhar · Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam
Bodofa Memorial School was established in 2016 in Kokrajhar, the heart of the Bodoland Territorial Region, directly opposite the Central Institute of Technology (CIT) Kokrajhar. Our campus stands in one of Assam's most remarkable education corridors — within reach of CIT, Bodoland University, and Kokrajhar Government College — and every child who studies here grows up seeing what education can build.
The school is named in loving memory of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma (1956–1990), the "Father of the Bodos", who believed that the dignity and future of a people rest on the education of their children. We exist to keep that promise in the most practical way we know: a disciplined, affordable, co-educational school where a child of this soil can study from Nursery to Class X and sit for the HSLC examination with confidence.
We teach in both Bodo and English mediums under the SEBA syllabus. A child here learns to think in the language of home and to compete in the language of the world — and learning does not stop at the blackboard. Our students survey the forests of Manas National Park, visit the Kokrajhar planetarium, practise yoga at dawn on the assembly ground, and celebrate Bwisagu, Independence Day, and our Annual School Week together as one school family.

Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma

A son of the soil
Upendra Nath Brahma is born on 31 March in Boragari village near Dotma, Kokrajhar district — the youngest of five children of Monglaram and Lefsri Brahma.
1986
The scholar
After a B.Sc. with honours in Physics from Cotton College, he completes his M.Sc. from Gauhati University — proof to every village child that learning has no boundary.
1986–90
The student leader
As president of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU), he leads a peaceful movement for the identity, education, and dignity of the Bodo people, guided by his creed: "Live and Let Live."
1990
Bodofa — Father of the Bodos
He passes away on 1 May at only 34, and is laid to rest at Thulungapuri, Dotma. His people give him the name by which history knows him: Bodofa, "Father of the Bodos."
Today
A living legacy
His birth anniversary, 31 March, is observed across Assam as Students' Day (Foraisa San). Schools, colleges, and roads bear his name — and our school carries it as a daily promise.
